Making the most of the the last of the fresh blackberries with this nutrient-packed smoothie. Combined with apples, peanut butter and yoghurt we're loving this after a tough workout.
The amazing vibrant colour of blackberries is down to antioxidants - they're actually one of the most antioxidant rich fruits. One of the reasons it's so important to eat a diet high in fruit & veg is because they're loaded with antioxidants. These help your body to fight free radicals and stop them from damaging your cells. So including this colourful fruit in your diet helps to improve your heart health, eyes and boost your immune system. Plus they also have some vitamin K and magnesium which is great for your bone health. Bananas contain potassium and carbs so they're perfect for after a workout. The potassium keeps your body's fluid in check and the carbs replenish your glycogen stores, getting you in tip top shape for your next workout. The peanut butter and chia seeds also provide you with some unsaturated fats – in fact chia seeds are the highest vegetarian source of omega-3!
