Nutella Energy Balls

We’re addicted to almond butter but hazelnut butter is definitely a close contender. Plus when you combine it with cacao powder you’ve got yourself some Nutella (or Notella as we like to say!). All you need is a food processor and 10 minutes and you’ve created the perfect snack for the week.

Unlike actual Nutella, these are low in sugar and nutrient-dense! Cacao powder and nuts are full of de-stressing magnesium and a whole range of antioxidants to fight off free radicals — helping to protect you from chronic disease. You're also getting some heart-healthy and anti-inflammatory unsaturated fats.


  • 200g hazelnuts (we roasted ours first for a richer flavour)

  • 1 TBSP maple syrup

  • 1 TBSP coconut oil (melted)

  • ½ vanilla bean paste or extract

  • 2 TBSP cacao powder

  • 2 TBSP cacao nibs

  • pinch of salt


  • Using a food processor with a S blade, blend the hazelnuts until it forms a fine and sticky flour (you might need to stop and scrape down the sides a few times).

  • Next add the maple syrup, coconut oil, and vanilla and blend until well combined.

  • Then add in the cacao powder and blend until the mixture sticks together well (as the nuts get blended more oil is released from them so hang in there!).

  • Finally mix in the cacao nibs and a pinch of salt.

  • Roll the mixture into balls and store in the fridge.
